Tuesday, April 26, 1960
Herman Asenap, 77, early-day tribal leader of the Comanches and a son-in-law of Quanah Parker, last great chief of the Comanches, died Monday afternoon in a local hospital.
Services will be announced by Becker Funeral home.
Born at Indiahoma, Asenap served as an interpreter with the U.S. Indian service and for Rev. A.J. Becker, minister at the Post Oak mission for 45 years.
He also operated a meat market in Cache and worked as a bank clerk.
He is survived by three sons, Teddy, of Cache; Sfc. Gilbert A. Asenap, Germany; and Hollis Asenap, of Walters; five daughters, Mrs. Martha Tenequer, Mrs. Bess Glazebrook and Mrs. Rhoda Tate, all of Indiahoma; Mrs. Linda William, Oklahoma City, and Mrs. Rowena Tonemah, 1312 Bell; a sister, Mrs. Tahchay Codopony, Indiahoma, 29 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
