Biography
Bethiah Norman, daughter of Robert Morgan and Margaret Norman was baptized on May 29, 1653 at Salem, Massachusetts. [1]
Her father Robert Morgan made his will October 14, 1672, which was proved on June 24, 1673, and in it he names among others, his daughter Bethiah. [2]
She married Samuel Weed, son of John and Deborah (Winsley) Weed of Amesbury, on March 12, 1675/6. [3] Samuel was born at Salisbury, Massachusetts on February 15, 1652 [ 15: 12m: 1651]. [4]
On May 26, 1690, Samuel Fowler Sr. and his wife Margaret, deeded lands, the 'widow's interest' from the estate of Robert Morgan to her son-in=law Samuel Weed, husband of Bethiah. Margaret is called relict of Robert Morgan and now wife of Samuel Fowler. [5]
On November 14, 1694, son-in-law Samuel Weed of Amesbury submitted a petition to the court to have Samuel Morgan, administrator of the estate of Robert Morgan to appear in court to settle the estate. Robert's will had indicated should any of his sons die before their mother's decease, any lands given to them should go to their heirs after Margaret's decease. Samuel indicated that three sons had died without issue and he had interest in their inheritance in the right of his wife Bethiah. [2]
Bethiah must have died by September, 1718, as she is not mentioned in her husband Samuel's will, written at that time. [6]
Samuel Weed of Amesbury wrote his will on September 5, 1717/8, proved, October 1, 1730. In it he names: [6]
sons Daniel and Samuel, my personal goods and estate in Amesbury to be enjoyed between them, if either should die, then the survivor to pay to:
my daughter Elizabeth, L30, besides what she was already given
my daughter Deborah, 20s, besides what she already has received
my daughter Bethiah, 20s, besides what she already has received
my daughter Margaret, 20s, besides what she already has received
my daughter Hannah, 20s, besides what she already has received
my daughter Lydia, 20s, besides what she already has received
my two sons to be my executors [6]
