Bridget (Murray) Welsh - O'Hare - Purnell [Convict "Canada" 1817]

Bridget MURRAY was born c1797 Dublin, Ireland

Bridget married James L A WELSH (aka WALL) and they had the following children

• Edward 1810

Bridget was convicted of stealing (in October 1815) and sentenced to 7 years transportation. She arrived in Sydney Cove on 6/8/1917 on "Canada". Her son Edward accompanied her.

Shortly after arrival Bridget had a daughter

• Bridget 1817

NOTE: There is debate around the father of Bridget.  The "Canada" left on 21/3/1817 and arrived in Sydney on 6/8/1817 so depending on when Bridget Jnr was born she might be the child of James WELSH or an unknown man in the gaol or on the ship.

Bridget married Felix O'HARE on 29/6/1818 at Parramatta and they had the following children

• John 1819
• Thomas 1821
• Felix 1823

On 1/1/1819 Bridget admitted her son Edward into the Male Orphan School

On 14/8/1823 Bridget admitted her daughter Bridget into the Parramatta Female Orphan Institute

Bridget had a relationship / marriage with William PURNELL in June 1823 and they had the following children

• Mary 1825
• Sarah 1826
• Stephen 1829

Bridget died 2/1/1852 Emu Plains
