About Capitan Arsenio Tiongson y Durutiao
Arsenio Tiongson, son of Lorenzo Tiongson and Juana Durutiao, is the third Teniente del barrio of Sampaloc, Talavera, Nueva Ecija succeeding his baláe (daughter's father in law), Teniente del barrio Marcos Josef Miranda.
His family belongs to the families that cleared and settled in the eastern area (Sitio Balasiwak, later barrios Gulod and Sampaloc) of the then newly founded town of Talavera. Those families created the route going to the Poblacion which is now part of a road connecting the towns of Llanera and Talavera, Nueva Ecija. Their clearing and agricultural activities in the eastern part of Talavera contributed to the improvement of the local economy. One of their farm products which had a significant impact was mushroom. At some time, their barrio was considered as one of the Philippines' top mushroom producers.
Arsenio died on June 9, 1974 at the age of 94.
