  • In the name of God Amen, I Christopher Hudson of Mecklenburg County being in perfect health and memory thanks be to God but calling to mind the uncertain state of this transitory life do make this my last will and testament.......
  • soul to God who gave it me and my body to the earth to be decently buried and of.....what small...it hath pleased God ...me with. I give and dispose of as forthwith.
  • Item. I give to my son JOHN HUDSON one- Boy named Esnts .........and to his heirs forever.
  • Item. I lend to my daughter CARY GREENWOOD one negro girl named Janus and one feather bed............
  • Item. I give to be son WILLIAM HUDSON one negro boy named Thornbill(?)..........REBECCA WAGSTAFF............
  • Item. I give unto my son CUTHBERT HUDSON one negro boy named Edmund and one feather bed to him and to his heirs forever.
  • Item. I give him one young .......five hundred pounds current money. I also give him after my wife decease one hundred and eighty six acres of land being this plantation I now live on to him and his heirs forever.
  • Item. I lend unto my beloved wife, Cary, eleven negroes named Dick, Robin, Towhill(?) Feely, Cate, Eady, Jude, Jenny,....,Richard and Pete. I also lend her all my real estate after my just debts is paid during her life and after her death to be equally divided between all my six children, JOHN HUDSON, CARY GREENWOOD, WILLIAM HUDSON, REBECCA WAGSTAFF, SABRE HUDSON and CUTHBERT HUDSON to them and their heirs forever.
  • Item. I give my wife one roan mare and saddle to...proper use forever. I also lend my beloved wife CARY HUDSON, the plantation I know live on during her natural life and after her death to my son CUTHBERT HUDSON to him and his heirs forever.
  • Last of all I do appoint my loving wife CARY HUDSON and JOHN HUDSON and WILLIAM HUDSON what's ...executors of this my last will and testament....hand and seal this the 15th (?) day of July 1778.
