Capt. James W. Keith

James Keith was educated in the law at Williamsburg; was admitted to practice in Frederick, Virginia Court in 1757and was clerk of the County Court for 62 years. He also practiced law in Alexandria, Virginia and was an officer with the Patowmack Company for many years.

Further lore concerning James Keith, Jr. is that he was captured by Indians and taken to Ohio for four years. His first wife was supposedly Nancy Hacker who had remarried thinking him dead. Upon his return, he decided to let the marriage stand. He later married Elizabeth Contee.

d. 16 Oct 1824 [%E2%80%9CDescendants of William Randolph of Turkey Island” says that this James KEITH m. 2nd to Charlotte ASHMAN.]
