He wa granted 245 acres under grant no 100 issued on the 3rd of March 1779 as entry #81 entered on the 25th of June 1778 in Book No 35, page No 100, location "Our waters of Flat River"<ref>Ancestry.com. Death

His Will would read:
In the name of God. Amen. I Shadrach Hargis of Person County, State of North Carolina Being of sound mind and memory Blessed by God, Do make this my last Will and Testament In Manner and form following. That is to say, First my Desire is that all my just debts be paid out of my Estate, Next I do lend to my beloved wife Nancy Hargis the plantation whereon I now live and one feather bed and furniture and one fifth part of the other household and kitchen furniture. Also one Negro woman Lucy and two negro boys Cyris and Ben and Delila Bush during her nonage During her natural life, Also her choice two horses and all the stock of cattle and sheep, two ewes excepted one for Nathan Hargis and the other for Betsey Warsham and the plantation whereon I now live to go to my son Shadrach Hargis and his horse bells and saddle with one cow and calf to be his at the present time together with one bed and furniture and all the remaining part of my personal estate at my wifes death to be sold and equally divided amongst all my children to wit, <b>Polly Burch</b>, Nancy Hudgins heirs, Jean Blackard heirs, Sally Walters, Nathan Hargis, Jonathan Hargis, William Hargis, Betsy Worsham, Frances Wilson heirs, and Shadrach Hargis. One portion to go to each family. And as for the land I purchased in the western country to be equally divided according to contract with Wm. James Robertson seven hundred acres to Robertson and five hundred 12 to my brother Thomas Hargis whenever my heirs gets a lawful title to said land and the balance which is eight hundred and eighty eight acres to be equally divided amongst my four sons to wit Nathan, Jonathan, William and Shadrach Hargis. In consequence of which I do hereby make William Hargis and Nathan Hargis executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto let my hand and seal. This twenty fourth day of January in the year one thousand eight hundred and sixteen. Sign and seal in the presence of US.
