Capt. Abner Robinson, s. of Peter and Ruth (Fuller) Robinson, Jr., born of record February 22, 1737/8 in Windham, Conn. Abner died Nov. 24, 1815 (g.s.) in that part of Windham that became the Town of Scotland, the notice of his death appearing in the Nov. 30, 1815 issue of the Windham Herald.
On Apr. 7, 1763 at the Scotland Parish Church, then in Windham, Abner m. Mehitable Palmer, dau. of Eleazer Palmer and Mary Lilly, b. Sept. 19, 1739 at Windham, Conn. She d Oct. 13, 1819 at present-day Scotland, Conn. (g.s.).
Abner was a blacksmith and farmer. He was an Ensign of the local train band and at the start of the Revolutionary War was at Bunker Hill with a company composed of men from the towns of Windham and Canterbury. According to family lore, three men were in his employ at the start of Revolution, with Abner and his three employees all enlisting, resulting in the blacksmith shop being closed and his farm carried on by his wife and oldest daughter Philena, then age 12. He was a Lieutenant then Captain in Col. McClellan's regiment during most of the Revolutionary War.
Abner and Mehitable had eight named children, all recorded in the Windham town records: Philena, Lois, Mehitable, Abner Jr., Mary d.y., Elizabeth "Betsey", Septimies and Mary "Polly." A family bible states two additional children, the two youngest and unnamed, were stillborn and not reflected in the vital records, but have a common gravestone.

Revised 5/24/2016 Inscription: Capt. ABNER ROBINSON died Nov. 24th 1815 in the 77th year of his age.
On the day Abner died he was 76 years old, and Ætatis suæ (i.e., Æ, "Aged," in the XX year of his Age) 77.
A small footstone says: Revolutionary War Capt. Abner Robinson Col. -- Williams Regt. Died Nov. 24th 1815 [the rest, if any, is below the ground]
