Richard Burton arrived in the Virginia Colony at the age of 28 in 1624 aboard the “Swan.” Born in New Castle, England, he married Katherine Christian at St. Savior’s Church in Southwalk, England. He came in the Swan and was a personal servant of another man at that time.
