Biography
Capt. John Polk served in the French and Indian Wars 1760-1766 and the Revolutionary War 1775-1780. He served as a Captain in Col. Francis Locke's regiment at the Battle of Ramseur's Mills. He was also a planter and Indian Agent for the Catawba Indians. He assisted in keeping the Indians friendly with the Americans during the Revolutionary War.
He left will in 1803, York Co., SC., and his wife Eleanor did, also, dying in York later in the same year of 1803.

He lived in York, South Carolina, United States in 1790. He registered for military service in 1760. He died before 11 April 1803, in York, York, South Carolina, United States, at the age of 64, and was buried in Polk Family Cemetery, Pineville, Mecklenburg, North Carolina, United States.
