Obituary: Albany, Enterprise, Albany, Minnesota, 3 June 1948
Carl F. Auer, well known to a great many people of the Albany community was buried in the Catholic cemetery in Albany following services at the Seven Dolors Church Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. Mr. Auer, 73 years old, died Thursday, May 27 as the result of injuries received in a fall from the roof of the Parish House in Madelia, Minnesota. He had been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Harold Walsh in Madelia since the death of his wife in April 1946. Rev. Luke Fink, O.S.B. officiated at the Requiem Mass.
Mr. Auer was born February 16, 1875. On October 10, 1899 he was married to Gertrude Sholar. During his life he made his home in Albany and Park Rapids until he went to live with his daughter. He was the son of Johann Auer and Anna Schwartz. A member of the Catholic church he belonged to the St. Joseph Society and the Holy Name Society.
All of Mr. Auer's children were present at the funeral; Norbert J. Auer, Hillsboro, North Dakota; Mrs. Harold Walsh [Angela], Madelia, Minn.; Raymond L. Auer, St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. M. F. Anders [Leone], Portland, Oregon; Mrs. J. T. Swayne [Florence], San Francisco, Calif.; Erwin D. Auer, Kamish, Idaho. One son, Edwin [sic], preceded his father in death. Grandchildren present at the funeral were: Mrs. Forest Johnson, Grand Forks, North Dakota; Norbert Auer, Jr., Grand Foks, North Dakota and Judith Ann Auer, Hillsboro, North Dakota. Candace Johnson, Grand Forks, a great-granddaughter was also present.
Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Auer, brother, and Mrs. Julius Hofmann, sister, were also present. The remains were brought to Albany Monday afternoon and were at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Auer until the funeral Tuesday morning.
Pallbearers at the funeral were: Norbert Hofmann, Rudolph Hofmann, Roman Weitzel, Robert Weitzel, Edmund and Benedict Auer. Andrew Peternell carried the cross.
