Carolina E Bush
From http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2013/06/10/after-black-rock "After Black Rock" by Joyce Carol Oates
My mother was brought up by a childless Hungarian couple named John and Lena Bush (Bush was the name they were given at Ellis Island, an approximation of their Hungarian name, Bus), who were relatives of her mother. They lived on a small farm in Millersport, a rural crossroads community about twenty miles north of Buffalo, at the boundary of Erie and Niagara Counties, where John Bush, a broad-shouldered, barrel-chested man with a thick mustache, also worked as a blacksmith.
