Per Penny's 7/26/2002 email, Catharina's obituary in the Burlington Daily Hawkeye "reflects that she was born in Germany on April 1832, emigrated with her parents to New York in 1851, married Roemwald Aicher in 1852, and settled in Burlington in 1857. She had 16 children, 9 of whom were living at the time of her death (6 sons and 3 daughters). Five of the children were living in or near Burlington, one Chicago, and three in Jordan, Minnesota. It states her husband died 23 April 1882. She was buried in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, Iowa." "Catherina's monument was an obvious lectern with a book on it" (based on Penny, Milo, and Loren's genealogy trip in June 2000 to Burlington, IA).

The death record (in vol. 3, 1895-97) for "Mrs. C. Archer" in the Burlington, IA courthouse indicates she died on Apr 17, 1897 at 8:30am at 819 Ash St. after 4 days of bronchitis (per D.C. Dalcher, physician), buried Apr 19, 1897 in Aspen Grove Cemetery, and had lived in Iowa for 46 years.
