Catherine Marr was born in 1711 in Stafford, Stafford, Virginia, United States. She was the daughter of John Marr (1670-1744) and Anna Elizabeth Fishbach Marr (1687-1734).

Catherine married John Hardin (1710-1789) at Prince William County, (now Fauquier), Virginia, United States in 1730. She was 19, and John was 20. John was the son of Mark Hardin (1681-1735) and Mary Hogue Hardin (1688-1735).

Major John and Catherine Marr Hardin became parents of the following 14 known children: John, Mary, Benjamin, Thomas, William, Mark, Jesse, Abigail, Catherine, Elizabeth, Susannah, Lucy, Nicholas and Eve.

Catherine served her country as a wife to a major and the mother of 14 children, some of these children later served in the military, revolutionary war, and she was also grandmother of some who have served in US and state of Kentucky government positions.

Catherine's husband, John built the first stone courthouse in Winchester, VA; served as Captain of Militia in the French and Indian War; Sheriff of Frederick County and served as Captain and Major in the border campaigns of the American Revolution.

One of Catherine's sons "Capt. John Hardin" was born in June, 1733 was a miller and served in the Revolutionary War. Another son, Mark Hardin was born in 1735 and served in the Revolutionary War. Her son, Benjamin who was born in 1739 also became a Revolutionary War soldier. Her other son, Capt. William Hardin who was born in Frederick County, Virginia abt. 1745 also served in the Revolutionary War. Three of Major John's and Catherine's sons served together in Dunmore's War in 1774: VIRGINIA'S COLONIAL SOLDIERS.

Don't have any photos of Catherine Hardin so put photos here showing that her sons served in the Revolutionary War from Virginia as well as her grandson who was in the political field in Kentucky. She worked hard throughout her life and had a lot to be proud of as a wife and mother to several wonderful children and grandmother to several. One wonders how many children wiped their faces on her apron.

Catherine died in 1786 in Nelson County, Kentucky, USA. She was 75 years old.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Feb 4 2022, 19:57:47 UTC
