About Catherine Kauffman
brief biography
Catherine Miller married Jacob Morter as her first husband. They had four children. They were also Amish until The Great Awakening revival and then became German Baptist Brethren. After the death of Jacob, Catherine and children went to live with her sister (Veronica "Frenny" Miller Kauffman), married to Jacob Kauffman in Somerset Co, PA. Her sister died giving birth to her last child. As often happens in Amish circles at the time, Catherine married Jacob Kauffman and had at least one more child. She died and is buried at the Kauffman graveyard in Somerset Co. DNA confirms we have Kauffman cousins!
