Catherine Adoline Sigmon

Obituary in THE CATAWBA NEWS ENTERPRISE, 2 July 1929, Mrs. Kate Sigmon, age 75, well known woman of Claremont, passed away at her home there Friday morning after a brief illness. Death was ascribed to a leakage of the heart and high blood pressure. The deceased is survived by the following children: Mrs. Obe Hefner, Newton; Mrs. Frank Matthews, of this county; Banks Sigmon, Claremont; Mrs. William Lowrance, Charlotte; Jake Sigmon, Claremont; Ed Sigmon, High Point; Bob Sigmon, Peak, S. C.; Derman and Roy Sigmon, Claremont. One brother and two sisters, Mr. J. B. Deal, Pineville; Mrs. J. A. Epps, Lincolnton; and Mrs. R. P. Hollar, Claremont. The funeral services were conducted from the St. Mark's Lutheran Church, of Claremont, Saturday morning by Rev. L. M. Hunt, of Conover, and interment made in the town graveyard. The five sons of Mrs. Sigmon acted as pall-bearers and her grand and great-grandchildren served as flower girls. The large crowd of attendants at the funeral and the gracious floral offering served as an indication of the high esteem of which the departed was held by those who knew her.
