About Cecily Sherman

concerns

Although this Cecily resembles Cecily Farrar and Cecilia (Cecily) Nowell, and is commonly thought to be each of them, she has not yet been proven to be the same person as either one of them. Further research is warranted.

brief biography

Cecily was born about 1637 in Henrico County, Virginia and died in Henrico County, Virginia

Mrs. Cecily Sherman ("Cisly Sherman") died in February 1704 in Henrico Parish south of the James River in present-day Chesterfield County.

Henry Sherman wrote his will in Henrico County 2 September 1695, perhaps he anticipated that he would die soon for they recorded his will on 1 October 1695. He mentioned his wife, Cicely, who was still living. To her he left all his slaves and half his personal property. The rest of his personal estate he left to be divided between his daughters and grandson Alexander Trent. His sons were already dead. After the death of Cicely, his land would descend to the two Trent grandsons. Peter Field, Francis Epes, William Farrar, and William Soane inventoried Henry's estate and the court recorded the division of his estate in December 1695.
