Chaja Tauber

Chaja Tauber was born in Koritschan, Moravia on 17 Oct 1799, and was named in honor of her maternal great-grandmother, Chaja [Anna] Zwillinger (1726-1792), wife of Rabbi Isaac b. Abraham [Isaac Meir Teomim-Zwillinger] (c1703-1786).

It is a distinct possibility that she was identical with Cheile Zwillinger, b. 24 Oct 1802, recorded as the daughter of Abraham and Freydl Zwillinger. The theory: along with her brother Markus, she too joined her grandparents’ household in 1806 and was raised by them. Her birth entry is similarly in a different handwriting, and appears to have been inserted into the 1802 page at a later point.

She apparently was m. in Mar 1831 when R’ Michael Hersch Tauber, paid her dowry. Her husband, however, has not been identified. The fact that Michael Tauber provided her dowry supports the theory that she was his daughter Chaja, b. 1799.
