Charles Bourgeois , son of Jacques Bourgeois and Jeanne Trahon, was born in Port Royal, Acadia, about 1646. About 1670 in Beaubassin, Acadia, he married Anne Dugas (or Dugast), born about 1654 in Port Royal. The Acadian census of 1671 indicates that Charles Bourgeois and Anne Dugas owned “a dozen cattles and seven sheeps.” Among their children was a son, also named Charles Bourgeois . Charles Bourgeois (the husband) died about 1678 in Beaubassin, Acadia. Anne Dugas was the daughter of Abraham Dugas , born in 1616 in St. Anne Auray, Brittany. He was an armorer who turned plowman, and in 1671 he had sixteen arpents of land. Anne Dugas’ mother was Marguerite Louise Doucet . After the death of Charles Bourgeois , Anne Dugas married (on April 26, 1679) Jean-Aubin “dit Chatillon” Mignot . Jean-Aubin “dit Chatillon” Mignot died in Quebec City, Canada, on September 5, 1712, and Anne Dugas died November 4, 1740 in Beaubassin, Acadia

Charles was born in Port Royal around 1646. He was the son of Jacques dit Jacob Bourgeois, surgeon and pioneer, and Jeanne Trahan.<ref name="DGFA"/>
Around 1668 he married Anne Dugas, daughter of Abraham Dugas and Marguerite Doucet.<ref name="DGFA"/> Between about 1670 and 1678, they had four children: Marie, Charles, Claude and Anne.<ref name="DGFA"/> In the first Acadian census of 1671, Charles, a plowman, was counted twice. First with his parents, listed as married and 25 years of age. Then in his own household with his wife Anne and child Marie. They owned 12 head of cattle, 7 sheep and 2 arpents of land.<ref>Tim Hebert; Transcription of the 1671 Acadian Census, at Port-Royal, Acadie. 1671 Census Transcribed.
