Germain accompanied his father in the founding of Beaubassin in 1672. in 1696, he left Beaubassin after the attack led by Church and returned to Port Royal. At the time of the attack on Port Royal in July of 1704, the Bostonians took many prisoners. Germain Bourgeois went to Boston, as a representative of the Acadian government, for an exchange of prisoners and returned to Port Royal with 51 Acadian prisoners. In 1708, the Bostonians attempted another attack on Acadia. In spite of their superior numbers, they were repelled. Germain was captain of the militia of Port Royal. On 28 Sep 1710, Col. Francis Nicholson and the English Commodore George Martin attacked Port Royal. This time they were successful, a permanent English garrison was established, and Port Royal became known as Annapolis Royal. Many of the Acadians formed a plot to rebel against the English. Among the rebels were: Germain Bourgeois and his son Guillaume, Jean Comeau, Pierre Le Blanc and Francois Brossard. Samuel Vetch, the English commander of the garrison at Annapolis Royal, had these rebels sent to Boston as prisoners. In the autumn of 1711, the rebels were released from their imprisonment and were returned to Annapolis Royal. Germain died after arriving in Annapolis Royal as a result of his ordeal in prison. He was 61 years old. - See more at: http://www.histoire-de-bourgeois.ca/getperson.php?personID=I562&tre...

The events surrounding the death of Germain are contradicted by the register of St-Jean-Baptiste of Port-Royal which indicates that Germain died at Port-Royal during father Durand captivity in Boston. - See more at: http://www.histoire-de-bourgeois.ca/getperson.php?personID=I562&tre...
