About Charles Drury, Sr
GEDCOM Note
I have no idea who the parents of Charles Drury, the immigrant are - yet! I am using this as a place to add Drury data that may later fit my line.
=======
There seem to be 4 Charles DRURYs:
1.) Charles that died 1740: Will 27 Aug 1740 & Probated 3 Oct 1740
2.) Charles that died 1766: Oldest son of Charles above.
3.) Charles that died 1814: Will citation - POWELL's AA Co., MD, Wills Index 1777 - 1918 has Drury, Charles, 1814, JG3:38:53.
4.) Charles that died ? (but married Mary Hardesty in 1815).

Colonial Families of Anne Arundel County, MD, The Drury Family, Pages 116/8:
1.) Charles Drury was in PG Co by 20 Oct 1711, when he was listed as having made a payment to the estate of John Johnson of PG Co. (INAC 33:A:39)
On 7 Dec 1715, he and John Bradford wit. a deed. (PGLR F:547) On 23 Nov 1725, William Scott recorded his apology for several times having called Charles Drury a "perjined [perjured?] rogue." (PGLR Liber F, Old Series 6:690) Charles Drury and William King appraised the estate of Michael Daniell of PG Co. on 2 Feb 1725. (MINV 11:223) On 26 March 1726, John Bradford made his will and named Drury as an overseer of several tracts of land. (MWB 18:464) Charles Drury's first wife may have been Mary (N), since Mary Drury wit. the document by which Walter Hoxton appointed Charles Drury his atty. (PGLR M:451) James Bright, Sr., of DO Co., d. leaving a will dated Oct. 1732, in which he named, among others, a dau. Elizabeth Drury. (MWB 20:713) Moses Adney, of St. Anne's parish, AA Co., d. leaving a will dated 11 Jan 1732/3 and proved 25 Jan 1732/3. The will was wit. by Jacob Lusby, John Lusby, Jr., and William Ruley. (MWB 20:792) Drury seems to have moved to PG Co., where he patented two tracts of land: 27 a. Drury Lane, on 27 nov 1735 (MPL EI#3:428, EI#4:365), and 143 a. Drury's Good Luck, on 23 April 1736. (MPL EI#2:413, EI#5:290) Charles Drury, of PG Co., d. leaving a will dated 27 Aug 1740 and proved 3 Aug 1740. He named wife Alice, who was to have Essex Land, except for a part sold to Francis King; after her death to pass to Edward, son of Charles and Sophia Butler (Boteler?); dau. Sarah was to have Drury's Adventure; son Charles, and daus. Esther Selby, Mary Dart, and Sophia Boteler, 10 s. each. The extx. was wife Alice. The will was wit. by Thomas Hodgskins, George Luxford, Gabriel Swain, and William Fallowell. (MWB 22:257) Charles Drury was probably m. earlier, since his children seem to have been adults when he made his will. A study of the available land records has identified Charles' first wife. Charles and Mary (N) Drury were the parents of: Charles; Sarah; Esther, m. Nathan Selby; Mary, M. (N) Dart; and Sophia, m. (N) Boteler.
2.) Charles Drury, Jr., son of Charles (1), d. in 1766. He m. 1st, by 8 June 1738, Elizabeth widow of Samuel Roberts, of AA Co. He m. 2nd, Mary (N). Charles Drury, Jr., on 31 Jan 1735/6, wit. the will of Edmund Evans, of AA Co. (MWB 21:591) Thus, he was probably b. c1714, which would have made him at least 21 in 1735/6. In his will, he disposed of several tracts. A study was undertaken to discover if Charles may have acquired them through his second wife, but an examination of AALR shows that he purchased them from others. Newman states that the children of Charles Drury, Jr., were by his second wife. The distribution of Charles Drury's estate was made 15 July 1769. There was a balance of £2334.19.7 to be dist. Samuel Lane and Thomas Stockett were sureties, and Mrs. Mary Drury was the admx. The legatees were Sarah, Elizabeth, Margaret, Mary, Ann, and Easter. The balance was dist. with 1/3 to the widow, and the residue to three sons and six daus.: William, Samuel, Charles, Sarah, Elizabeth, Margaret, Mary, Ann, and Easter (Esther). (BFD 5:219) Charles Drury was the father of (by Elizabeth): Sarah, m. (N) Hodge; (by Mary): William, not yet 21 in 1766, m. Elizabeth Ijams; Elizabeth, not yet 16; Margaret, not yet 16; Anne, not yet 16, probably the one who m. John Pindell in 1770; Mary, not yet 16; Anne, not yet 16; Charles, not yet 21; Esther, not yet 16; Samuel, not yet 21 in 1766, m. Ann Ijams; and Jerningham.
3.) Samuel Drury, son of Charles (2) and Mary, was b. in 1759 and d. leaving a will dated 28 Jan 1842 and proved 17 July 1850. On 29 May 1779, he obtained a marriage license in AA Co. to marry Ann Ijams, dau. of Plummer and Ruth Ijams. They were m. in St. James Parish. Samuel Drury, Sr., was an ensign in Capt. William Simmons' Co. in the West River Battalion in 1778, and he took the Oath of Allegiance before the Hon. Samuel Lane on 1 March 1778. (AARP:57) Samuel and Ann (Ijams) Drury were the parents of: Elizabeth, m. (N) Lyles; Elizabeth, m. Benjamin Welch; Ann, m. (N) Gardner; Mary, m. (N) Humphreys; Plummer Ijams, Samuel; Henry Childs; and Dr. John Ijams.
4.) Henry Childs Drury, son of Samuel (3) and Ann (Ijams) Drury, was stated by Newman to have been b. in 1795, and to have d. in 1873. He is certainly mentioned in his father's will of 1842. Henry C. Drury, d. 17 Feb 1873, at 76 years of age. Mary A. Drury d. 6 July 1870, age 68. Both are bur. in the Drury Family Cemetery, Bristol, AA Co. There are several Henry C. Drurys in AA Co. Henry C. Drury, of William, age 76, testified on 12 Dec 1850 that Henry C. Drury of Charles, volunteered around 18 June 1813, was in Capt. Jacob Franklin's Co., and was discharged at Halls Crossroads. On 18 Dec 1850, Elizabeth Drury, age 73, widow of Henry C. Drury, of Charles, stated that her husband enlisted 1 July 1813, that she m. him on 27 Oct 1816 and her family name was Elizabeth Franklin. She said that her husband d. at home on 9 Aug 1840. Newman states that Henry C. Drury (of Samuel), m. , by license, dated 22 Oct 1822, Mary Franklin Owens, sister of Nicholas, James, and William Owens. AA Co. Marriage Licenses show that Henry C. Drury was m. four times, or there were several different individuals of that name: Henry C. Drury and Elizabeth Mills, license dated 16 May 1806; Henry C. Drury and Sarah Elson, license dated 25 Nov 1808; Henry C. Drury and Elizabeth Franklin, license dated 2 Dec 1816 (he is the son of William); and Henry C. Drury and Mary Owens, license dated 22 Oct 1822. Henry Childs Drury was the father of: Ann Franklin; Priscilla, m. Joseph Shepherd; Sarah Jane, m. Joseph Chaney; Mary Frances, m. Robert Montgomery Pindell; Emily, m. 1st, (N) Hill, and 2nd, Benjamin Jones; and James O., m. Mrs. Elliott.
Unplaced: Drewery, John, was in SM Co. by 25 March 1 1770, when he wit. the will of William Shercliffe. (MWB 12:157) John Drury d. by 4 May 1726, when his estate was admin. by Mary Drury, the admx. An inventory of £56.19.1 was mentioned. Payment was made to a Robert Drury. (MDAD 7:333)

Per Marilyn Roth, email of 10/20/2000:
There are at least five DRURY marriages at St. James, AA, MD: Margaret m. 31 _ 1770, John PINDEL. Elizabeth m. 12 _ 1771, Matthew COOLEY Charles m. 2 Je. 1774, _ CHILD. Ann m. 10 S 1776, Zebedee WOOD. Mary m. 14 Jan. 1794, Edmund KELLY.
The first four of these indicate likely marriages of children of Charles DRURY who was about the age of Esther, & probably married in 1740's.

http://www.shef.ac.uk/uni/academic/A-C/ap/research/madagasc.html#degra ve The shipwreck of the Degrave? Around the turn of the century the ethnographer Emile Defoort noted the survival of two iron cannons on the beach about 20 km southwest of Ambovombe. He was certain that these were the remains of the English East Indiaman, the Degrave, which brought the young Robert Drury to Madagascar in 1703, prior to the Tandroy's massacre of the crew and the enslavement of Drury. In 1995, part of a bronze bell was recovered by snorkel divers from the actual wreck site, adjacent to one of the cannons but just outside the reef. There are apparently the remains of at least four cannons and an anchor here. The bell fragment has no identifying marks but was made before c.1750 and is probably English. The cannons are 'finbankers', a form produced by the Swedes, Dutch and English, though one cannon is probably English. Both are considered to date broadly to the late 16th-17th centuries and one assessment dates them to 1665-1675. The dating of the cannons and the bell concurs well with our impression, based on Drury's and Benbow's accounts, that this wreck site is that of the Degrave, built in 1698. This discovery has allowed us to reassess the likelihood that a small copper alloy Bodhisattva from the western Himalayas, examined in 1993 at Benonoke, probably originally derived from the Degrav
