During the Revolutionary War he served with Colonel Hopkins' 6th Regiment in Dutchess County Militia, also in Colonel Luddington's 7th Regiment. Charles married Mary Conklin, also of Peekskill, New York, and had several children. Charles was one of the Commissioners who designed and built Croton Dam. The above date is supposedly from his gravestone and according to it he was born 1769 in Putnam Valley, NY and died 28 Oct 1839. To confuse the matter, being born in 1769, and being in the Rev. War, he would of been 7 years old at the start of the war and 13 at the end of the war.
