About Charles G. Pinessiwigishig King
Charles G. King is # 1746 on the 1907 Wooster Roll where he is identified as the brother of James G. King who, in turn, is also the son of George King (deceased in 1907). Charles G. King's traditional name is recorded as "Pinessiwigishig" meaning "Sky bird" but that name and its meaning and context require scrutiny and comment by those with expertise in nuances of the Anishinaabemowin language and Potawatomi culture.
Ancestry.com also confirms that Pinessiwigishig is the son of Wonguod (George King) and Shawnab. http://www.ancestry.com/genealogy/records/wonguod_153262824
Ancestry.com also identifies the wife and children of Pinessiwigishig. http://www.ancestry.com/genealogy/records/pinessiwigishig_157764618
The birthplace of Charles King is identified in his death registration as Christian Island. Although the grandfather of Charles King was Potawatomi Chief Ogimawadj, Charles's death certificate lists him as "Ojibwa", a common error in documentation of Potawatomi descendants who lived in communities of predominantly Ojibwa ancestry.
In 1907 when Charles G. King was age 50 he was living at Christian Island where he held NO rights in Canada.
Since the initial on his middle name is "G" his middle name likely was George, the name of his father.
When he was age 37 on Christian Island on July 16, 1893 Charles King, Farmer, married Mary Isaac (age 19), daughter of James and Jane Isaac. The marriage registration is at page 538, Schedule B - Marriages in County of Simcoe, Township of Tiny available online at https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9Q97-Y39P-FKW?i=90&wc=3N7R-... . This document records the birthplace of both Charles King and Mary Isaac as Christian Island.
Charles King's death on May 24, 1921 is Simcoe County Death Registration # 029651 which notes his age at death was 69 and the cause of death being pnemonia. He was buried on Christian Island on May 25, 1921. His death must have come as a shock to his 94 year old Uncle Lewis King who died not long afterwards (on July 28, 1921) and whose death is the very next registration on page 241 of the Simcoe County Death Registry.
