About Christiana Maxson

DAVIS, THE SETTLERS OF SALEM, WEST VIRGINIA, by Susie Davis Nicholson, Salem, West Virginia, 1992. p. 45, 46

"The Sabbath Recorder", Vol 14, No 36, p 143, Feb. 11, 1858.

In Milton, Wis., Jan. 21st., of consumption, Miss Christiana Maxson, wife of Jonathan Maxson, in the 46th year of her age.

Sister Maxson has been for years a decided servant of God. She was a member of the Seventh-day Baptist Church of Christ, in Jay Co., Indiana, until the church became extinct. For a few years since she has lived in Milton, where she won to herself, the most qualified confidence as a Christian, of all that knew her. She held the doctrine of feet washing, and could not feel it her duty on that account to unite with the Church here. There was a prayer meeting held at the house of Bro. Maxson, a few hours previous to her death, in which she devoutly joined, she said it was "worth more to her than all the medications she ever used." A little after the meeting was dismissed, she sat on the bed, and said she was dying, she was laid down, and "lived no more on earth." She died, and was "gathered to her people," to join the "spirits of just men made perfect, and general assembly, and church of the first born." V. H.
