About Christina Margaret Collard

Christina Margaret married Captain Frederick Graham Collard who had been a captain in the British-India line of steamers. He entered the State Public Service in July 1908 and was appointed harbour master at Beachport. He was at ne time the master of the government steamer "Governor Musgrave". His appointments include master of the lifeboat, "City of Adelaide" and assistant harbour master at Port Adelaide. He died in 1922 at Wallaroo, where he was harbour master, an important port for grain ships. His wife survived him by many years dying on the 22nd March 1954 at the age of 70.
John Graham Dingle remembers seeing her (his grandmother) funeral procession with his parents in the car behind the hearse preceed the Royal Procession as he was waiting on West Terrace with his class from school to see the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh.
