Macleay Argus (Kempsey) Tue 7 Jul 1931; MRS. CHRISTINA ROWE.

By the passing of Mrs. Christina Rowe at her residence, Upper Eungai, on Friday evening last, another link with the pioneering days of this district was severed. Relict of the late James Rowe, who predeceased her nine years ago, the deceased was 92 years of age.

A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Plummer, the late Mrs. Rowe was a native of Norfolk, England, came to the Macleay with her brother 'Robert when only 14 years of age' , and has so spent fully 78 years in this district. For a great number of years, with her late husband, she followed farming pursuits at Kinchela and Clylbucca, but 37 years ago the family took up land at Upper Eungai, where the subject of this notice re sided ever since.

A family of three sons and two daughters are left to mourn an irreparable loss. The sons are Messrs. Herbert, Henry and Charles Rowe, all of Eungai, whilst the daughters are Airs. H. Gardener (Sydney) and Mrs. George Partridge (Stuart's Point).

The funeral took place on Sunday, leaving her late residence at Upper Eungai at noon, and calling at the Methodist Church, Fredericikton, enroute to the Frederickton cemetery, where the mortal remains were laid to rest. Rev. S. Paper conducted the services at both the church and the graveside in the presence of an. unusually large assemblage of relatives and friends, who attended to pay their last tribute of respect to one who was universally loved and respected by all who knew her many kindly deed to those in less fortunate circumstances than herself endeared the old lady to many of three generations and gained for her true friends on every hand. Mr. Jos. T. Walker had charge of the funeral arrangements.
