OBITUARY.

MR. HERBERT JAMES ROWE.

As briefly reported in our issue of Tuesday last, there passed away at the residence of his sister, Mrs. G. Partridge, of Stuart's Point, Mr. Herbert James Rowe, aged 60 years.

Deceased was born at Kinchela, and was a son of Mr. and Mrs. James Rowe, pioneer residents of Eungai. On attaining manhood estate, deceased followed in his father's footsteps, and for many years carried on farming most successfully until some two years ago, when failing health necessitated a relinquishment of active work on the farm, and he went to reside with his sister.

Of an exceptionally quiet and retiring disposition, deceased was nevertheless well known and highly respected by a wide circle of friends.

Messrs. William Charles Rowe (Stuart's Point), and Henry George Rowe (Eungai) are brothers and Mesdames H. Gardiner (Sydney), and George Partridge (Stuart's Point) are sisters of deceased.

The funeral, under the conduct of Mr. Jos. T. Walker, took place on Wednesday from the residence, proceeding to the Methodist Church, Frederickton, where Rev. S. Piper conducted a service, and later officiated at the graveside at the Frederickton cemetery in the presence of a large gathering of relatives and friends of the deceased.
