About Col. Ichabod Nye
Served in the Revolutionary War for MASSACHUSETTS with the rank of PRIVATE. DAR Ancestor # A085352
On 7/14/1779 he enlisted in Colonel John Greaton's regiment, Captain Pritchard's company and served 9 months, and beginning in August 1781, served three months in Colonel Sear's regiment.
During the Indian wars he lived in Campus Martius, purchasing later the southwest blockhouse which had been the residence of Governor St. Clair and resided there until 1814. In 1820 he built the dwelling house where he lived the remainder of his life.
In 1809 he erected a brick store on Putnam St. the upper story being used by the Masonic Lodge of which he was a prominent member. In 1810 he opened a store and engaged in merchandising there and in other places until 1821.
He was a federalist in politics and served several years as Town Treasurer and member of the City Council, ans as Colonel in the Militia.
The Nye Genealogy Book did not mention anything of him being in the War of 1812? Served in the War of 1812 from October 27, until December 27, 1812, and from May 4, until May 19, 1813.
