The Fourth War of Dispossession between the AmaXhosa and the colonists takes place under Graham's command. He planned and executed a campaign by terror to drive 20,000 AmaXhosa unlawfully from the Zuurveld. The Zuurveld was mistakenly assumed by the British to be part of the Cape Colony, but it wasn't. The campaign of terror is chronicled to have included the indiscriminate shooting of women and other civilians, as well as destruction of crops.
