A Patriot of the American Revolution for NEW HAMPSHIRE - MASSACHUSETTS with the rank of CORPORAL. DAR Ancestor # A046806  

Information taken from pension application: (Information sent from Frederick W. Ashley of Library of Congress):

William Graham enlisted at Petersborough, New Hampshire, in 1775, and served one year and eight months in Captain William Scott's Company, Colonels Starke's and Sargent's New Hampshire regiment. He was in the battles of Bunker hill, White Plains, York Island and Trenton; he enlisted at Boston, Massachusetts in 1777 and served three years in Captain Abraham Hunt's Company, Colonel Joseph Vose's Massachusetts Regiment; at the expiration of this service, he enlisted and served in Captain John Mill's and Timothy Remick's Companies, Colonel Joseph Vose's Regiment and was discharged in June 1783.

Biography

William, son of John Graham and Hannah Wallace was b. about 1754 in Peterborough, NH. In May 1775 he enlisted for a term of 8 months at Peterborough, NH under Lt William Scott in a company commanded by Captain William Scott of the NH line. He along with his militia proceeded to Mistick, near Bunker Hill and joined a regiment commanded by Colonel Starke. He served under Starke for almost 2 years and he was discharged from Capt Scott's company in Dec 1776 or jan 1777. He returned back to the Hancock area where he met and married Mary Cheney. (According to his pension file, he married Mary in Deerfield, MA.) However in 1789 he was warned out of Deerfield; then in 1791 he was warned out of Hancock (1). He followed his Graham family to NY and he spent his final days in Cornith, Saratoga, NY (2). William passed away in 1824. His wife Polly died in 1838.
