Daniel Ira Magee

Following is the obituary for Daniel Ira Magee in the Minutes of Magee's Creek Baptist Church:

June 16, 1888. Tribute of respect. It has been made known to this Magee's Creek Baptist Church that an allwise Providence has seen fit to call from his labors one of our most worthy and beloved members, Bro. Daniel I. Magee.. It is resolved that in the death of Bro. D. I. Magee, this church have suffered a great and irreparable loss. In his daily walk among men, in his privet life, and by his conduct and actions with him [within] the sanctuary, he was sought to exemplify the teaching of our Savior. A man of will, impetuous, and full of determination, he was yet as gentle and sympathizing to suffering humanity as a woman. True, devoted, unswerving as a friend and as a brother, he was ever ready to respond to the cry of distress and to exhaust his energies and abilities in behalf of the oppressed. Bro. Magee discharged the duties of life as best he could, and the record of his deeds bear testamony that he discharged them well. His indeed was good works, and fit to be presented to the master. With heartfelt sorrow we morne his loss.

7. Jesse Warren Magee mrd. Minnie Lee Newman.
8. Dora Bell Magee mrd. Otha Thornhill.

Note: Nola Thornhill and Otha Thornhill were siblings.

Daniel was the son of John "Jackey" Magee and Anna Eliza Tynes.

He married Mary Bell Boone in 1870 Pike Co., MS and they had 8 children.
