David was found guilty of theft and transported to Australia. At some point he came to Melbourne and worked for a man called Wills (possibly the creator of Australian Rules). He sent for his family in England but unfortunately Elizabeth died just prior to arriving. The children did arrive. Later Wills sent him to Queensland to manage a property he owned. While he was there he became involved in a dispute with the local aboriginal people. During the fighting, he and his second wife and two children, were killed.
