About David Hollis Baker

Although many online family trees insert the middle name of "Hollis" for David Baker, no contemporary record supports the existence of a middle name, and middle names were not common at that time or in his family. His census records, military service records, land records, legislative records, judicial service records (he was a Justice of the Peace in Burke County NC) and even his will are simply in the name "David Baker."

The town of Bakersville, North Carolina is named after him.
