David Berstein

Also known as "David". According to Dr. Neil Rosenstein -

David Aryeh Leib Bernstein (b. c. 1810, died 1907 in Berlin, Germany). Married c. 1840. Changed his name to Zirilstein to avoid the mandatory military service. Two of David Bernstein and Kaila Margolis Bernstein's children married cousins.

Hinde Bernstein married Issac Margolis son of Eliahu (Elijah) Margolis, Kaila's brother.

Israel Samuel Zirilstein married Gittel Margolis, daughter of Zvi Hirsch Margolis, another brother of Kaila and Elijah (son of Mordechai and Hinde Bas Ber Margolis).

Gittel and Israel Zirilstein's children in turn married cousins -- Harry Stein married Lena Rosenberg, daughter of Israel's first cousin Max Rosenberg... their daughter Bertha married Max Sterling (son of Asher Sterling). Rosenstein speculates that Asher Sterling was the son of Bertha's parent's aunt, Sulka Margolis Sterling.

Zvi Hirsch Margolis' daughter Batya (Bessie) married Herbert (Yaakov Hirsch) Rosenberg and it is their son Max (Mordechai) whose daughter was Lena Rosenberg (above).

There are multiple Sterling - Margolis marriages and multiple Rosenberg - Margolis marriages.

Prominent member of the Merecz community, which is why Issac Margolis moved to Merecz when he married Hinde Bernstein, daughter of Mordechai Bernstein and Kaila Margolis.
