He was High Sheriff Bergen Co. 1714, Justice of the Peace 1721, 1722, 1738 and 1744. Judge of Court of Pleas and Quorums 1738-1739. He was a member of the 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, and 16th Provincial Assemblies of New Jersey from 1738 to 1746 and one of the two representatives of Bergen County Board of Freeholders. David was a large landowner in Bergen and Essex County.
