DAVID LINDSAY OF DUNROD

David Lindsay of Dunrod is the son and heir apparent of David Lindsay of Dunrod The name of his mother is not certainly known but it is supposed, since he was probably an adult when he is first noticed as a witness in a charter dated 22 June 1507. NRS: GD3/1/1/17/1 that he may have been the son of Euphame Stewart, who married his father before 16 June 1498. RMS: 2421

Death

A date and place of death has not been identified for David Lindsay of Dunrod. He may have died in or before 1516 CTRS: 59 but he certainly died before 5 July 1518. RSS: 3020

16 June 1498: Charter by which James IV, King of Scots, confirms that he has given a twenty pound land on the island of Bute to David Lindsay, nephew and heir apparent of Alexander Lindsay of Dunrod, and his wife Eufameam Stewart (otherwise Eufamie Stewart). 22 June 1507: Charter of vendition granted by Matthew, Earl of Levinax, Lord Dernlie, in favour of Alexander Craufurde of Spango and Agnes Montgomery, his spouse and the longest liver of them two, and the heirs lawfully procreated or to be procreated between them whom failing to the nearest and most lawful heirs and assignees of the said Alexander, whomsoever, of the 12 merks of land with a half merk of land of his lands of Drigarne of old extent, lying in the lordship of Drigarne and within the sheriffdom of Ayr; to hold of him in fee, for payment yearly of a penny Scots at the feast of Whitsunday, on the ground of the said lands, in name of blench ferm if asked only.
