About George Lindsay of Dunrod

GEORGE LINDSAY OF DUNROD

George Lindsay of Dunrod is the son and heir of David Lindsay of Dunrod. Identified as such, he is noticed in the witness list of a charter made in favour of Alan Stewart of Cardonald dated 24 February 1502. RMS: 2701 The name of his mother is not certainly known. However, since he appears to have reached adulthood before this last mentioned date, it is supposed that he was a son of Euphame Stewart, since she married his father before 16 June 1498. RMS: 2421 On 3 August 1501 George Lindsay was amerced in the sum of ten pounds, for failing to give suit of court for his lands in Kittochside. RSRS XI: 357

Death

A place and date of death has not been identified for George Lindsay of Dunrod. According to Lives of the Lindsays, he was disinherited by his father, Lives I: 435 but no proof is offered for this proposition. Possibly, therefore, he died before 22 June 1507, when his brother David is identified as their father's son and heir apparent. NRS: GD3/1/1/17/1

Marriage

George Lindsay of Dunrod is said to have married Elizabeth Mure. Selections from the Family Papers Preserved at Caldwell, Part First, p. 9
