Name: David MCCALL I

Birth: 1758 in Laurens (nka Pulaski) County, Georgia

Death: 1844 in Telfair County, Georgia

Military Service: Revolutionary War Soldier

Burial: 1844 Georgia

Note:

DAVID McCALL was born about 1760 in South Carolina, a son of CHARLES McCALL, R. S. (Volume 1). His early life until his marriage was spent in South Carolina. His wife was FRANCES FLETCHER, a daughter of William Fletcher, R.S. She was born in South Carolina, July 11, 1767. They had at least six children. *Apparently, there are more children unaccounted for to date.

David McCall was a private in Captain GILES' company, Colonel William HILLS' regiment of south Carolina Militia in the Revolutionary War in 1782. In 1786 he received two hundred acres of bounty land in Effingham County (Georgia) for his war service, which marked about the time he moved to Georgia. He was cut out of Effingham into Screven County in 1793, out of Screven into Bulloch County in 1796. He was among the early settlers of Telfair County after that county was made, and lived there until his death in early 1844. His son, JEHU McCALL, was appointed temporary administrator of his estate March 4, 1844. The Telfair county deed records show a gift by him to his sons SELLOWAY and ABRAHAM LOFTON McCALL of two slaves on October 17, 1810. Bulloch County deeds (Book A, p.53) show a deed dated 1801, from him and FRANCES his wife to JOSEPH LEWIS for land.
