Additional Biographical Information:

The suspected ringleader in the brutal farm murder of Bob Gawler on his farm De Mist last year was recently arrested. The man was arrested in Inanda by an Ilembe SAPS taskteam, confirmed Umhlali SAPS spokesperson captain Vinny Pillay.
Items taken during the farm attack, as well as others from the murder and armed robbery of a shop owner in Glendale a few weeks after the Gawler attack, were also recovered. A retired farmer, Gawler and his wife Denise were attacked in their house in Upper Glendale last July. Four men kicked the front door down and entered their house. Gawler was attacked and beaten before being shot in the stomach and left to bleed to death. His wife Denise, who was on bed rest after an operation, was tied to the bed by the attackers. Unable to call for help, the couple were only found the following morning by their domestic worker and a neighbour. Another suspect in the brutal attack was arrested in October after an intensive search led by Alpha Security. Alpha’s Rex Hunt said at the time they had used paid informants to track down the suspect’s cellphone number, which they used to locate him before arresting him in conjunction with the SA Community Action Network, the KwaDukuza Task Team and SAPS members. Hunt said the search was ongoing for the rest of the criminals involved and that authorities would not rest until they had been brought to justice.
