She was born May 9, 1924 in Portsmouth, to the late Edward and Mary Lucy Alexander Orth. Dody was a 1942 graduate of Portsmouth High School, having worked for a brief period of time for Portsmouth City Schools, and she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. She also worked for attorney Cy Kahl, as his stenographer. Dody was a member of Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union in New Boston, and a former member of Portsmouth First Church of the Nazarene and New Boston First Church of the Nazarene. She had a heart for missions and compassionate ministries. Dody had served more than 40 years as a Sunday School teacher and Christian Lay Training director, and was the recipient of the E.P. Ellison award from the Nazarene church.

Dody was preceded in death by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 56 years, Reginald Eugene Huffman, who passed away March 30, 2000. They were married in Portsmouth November 16, 1943.

She is survivied by two sons, Jerry Lee (Linda) Huffman, of Franklin Furnace, and David Eugene (Janet) Huffman of Portsmouth; two daughters, Deborah Sue (Don) Mersiel, of West Portsmouth, and Linda Kay (Dan) Powell, of Lancaster, Ohio; one brother, Tom (Faye) Orth, of Portsmouth; one sister, Phyllis (Jack) Sparks, of Wheelersburg; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Lee (Melissa) Huffman, Thomas Alan (Kari) Brookbank, Amy Louise (Ray) Kuhn, Benjamin Huffman Colburn, Joshua David Huffman and Justin Taylor Huffman; six great-grandchildren, Kayli Brookbank, Tyler Brookbank, Madison Kuhn, Zachary Huffman, Andrew Kuhn and Ethan Huffman; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will take place Monday, August 27, 2007, at 1 p.m. at Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union with the Rev. Gary Heimbach officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Burial Park.

"God made a wonderful Mother, A Mother who never grew old, He gave her a smile of sunshine, And molded a heart into gold. He made her so like an angel, As anyone ever could be.

God made a wonderful Mother, Then gave that Mother to me.

Eternal rest give unto her, O, Lord, And let perpetual light shine upon her.

May she rest in peace..."
