He married Dirckje Theunise. Douwe Harmansen Tallman emigrated in 1659 from Friesland, Netherlands; on board the West India Ship "Brown Fish." He resided at at New Amsterdam, New York County, New York, between 1659 and 1668. He emigrated in June 1659 from Freesland, Netherlands; on the Dutch West India ship "Brown Fish." He resided at at New Amsterdam, New York County, New York, in 1660. He resided at at Bergen, Hudson County, New Jersey, in March 1668. His estate was proved circa March 1678. He died on 19 June 1687.

Bifth date & place: from family records in possession of John Tallman, Jr. Marriage info: from family records in possession of John Tallman, Jr. Death date & burial place: from family records in possession of John Tallman, Jr. Douwe Harmense Taelman was a member of the Bergen Reformed Church in 1664. He settled in New Amsterdam and later moved to Jersey City, Bergen County, New Jersey. Later to a dwelling in the vicinity of Tappan on lands granted to him by Philip Carteret on May 12 , 1668. These lands came into possession of his son Theunis, who sold them in 1703-05 to Mattys DeMott for L160-10s. Douwe Harmensen purchased land at Nyack. This was the Douwe Harmensen Patent. In 1686 he was appointed first sheriff of Orange County, later to become Rockland County.
