Translation:

He studied in Tarnow in Western Galicia with Rabbi Yosef Engel. He was invited to Ujhel to serve as Dayan (judge) for the Chasidic community there. He served there for over 40 years. With the death of his father-in-law, Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum, he was chosen in 1913 to be the Av Bet Din (the head of the rabbinical court) there. He also headed a Chasidic Yeshiva in Ujhel. During World War I, he took into his home rabbis who were refugees from Galicia. During World War II, Ujhel was close to the Slovakian border, and, at that time, Rav Meizlish and his yeshiva students helped Polish refugees who crossed the border on their way to Budapest. He passed away in Auschwitz on 15 Sivan 1944. One of his sons, Tzvi Hersh, who was the Rabbi of Zatz, Hungary, survived the Shoah. He emigrated to the United States and there wrote the book Shu"t M'Kadshei Hashem.

Grand Rabbi David Meizlish was born to Mordekhai. He was a AB"D and married to Roza. Prior to WWII he lived in Ujhely, Hungary. Grand Rabbi Meizlish perished in the Shoah.
