About Dr. Carey Hampton

Patriot - Cary Henry Hampton served in the American Revolution. Dr. Hampton was a surgeon with Virginia troops during the Revolution and is listed in the DAR Patriot Index.

DAR Ancestors # A050718.

In 1800 he moved to Cabell County, W. Va., to bounty land purchased by his father from soldiers in the French & Indian War. He built a large, two-story brick house, the first in Cabell County ‎(near the site of present Marshall College in East Huntington, W. Va.)‎ and called it "Soldier's Claim."
