Ebenezer Allen, Jr.

Will of Ebenezer Allen of Dartmouth yeoman, dated 1 Mar 1759, probated 3 Nov 1778, gives to son George five shillings besides former gifts; to John ten pounds besides former gifts; to Ebenezer the northeasterly part of his homestead, "Butted and Bounded as followeth to Be Gin at a Split Rock Rock [sic.] at the River the north west Corner Bounds of my homestead farme," bounded northerly on land of David Wilcox, southerly partly on land of the Giffords and partly on my other land, together with my furthermost island called Gunning Island; to Peter the southerly part of my farm and Great Island; to daughters Elizabeth Soul, Hannah Allen, Margaret Parker, and Sarah Slocum; Ebenezer executor (note: wife Margaret not mentioned) [Bristol Co., MA, Probate Records, v. 25, 1777-1779, Family History Library, film 461892, p. 315-317].

Notice that the will of Ebenezer Allen of Dartmouth, dated 1 Mar 1759, probate 3 Nov 1776, bequests to son Ebenezer Allen, "my furthermost island called Gunning Island". The will of Ebenezer Allen of Westport, yeoman, dated 14 Nov 1801, proved 7 Jun 1814, bequests to sons Ebenezer & George "Gunning Island", etc.So is appears to show that Ebenezer Allen of Westport, will dated 14 Nov 1801, proved 7 Jun 1814, husband of Eliphal Allen, was the son of Ebenezer Allen, whose will was dated in 1759, probated 1778. The Ebenezer Allen who died in Washington, NY, in 1823 was not the son of Ebenezer Allen of Dartmouth.
