Not the son of Richard Ball of Hunting Creek & Elizabeth Ball
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Ball-558
A previous version of this profile claims, without source, that Edward's parents were Richard Ball (of Maryland) and Elizabeth Linton.
Ronald Ames Hill argues that Edward's parents were William Ball and his wife Ann:[5]
The probable origins of Edward Ball were discovered in a search of the series Virginia County Court Records,... In an Essex County Order Book, May 1692-April 1693, the following interesting entry was recorded on 11 April 1693:
Wm. Ball appear'd in Court and acknowledged a Deed of Sale to his three children viz: Sarah, Edward and John Ball to be his act & deed, the same is ordered to be recorded.[6]
William's deed to his three children was duly recorded in the Essex County deed and Will Book, July 1692-1693.
Notes: The Ball family of Middlesex Co., VA. is possibly related to the Ball family of Lancaster Co., VA. from which family George Washington, First President of the U. S., is descended. Actual proof of this relationship is not now available, however, if, in fact, this relationship exists, it is probably in generations previous to Col. William Ball and the Edward Ball, Sr. of Middlesex, which would take it back into pre-colonial England.
