Notes for Ed Reagan submitted to FamilySearch by crvarnado2760112, Charles Raymond Varnado (1926-2010): https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/2:2:9HVJ-YRP

Ed was one of a family of eleven sons and one daughter. Ed grew up working hard on the farm and had little schooling. He wanted to enlist in the Spanish-American War but was turned down because of a disease at that time called "Tetter" on his hands and feet. He married Fannie Tarver at an early age, acquired forty acres of land and one old horse. He worked very hard. Unfortunately, his wife died Oct. 12, 1901 and his son died Feb. 12, 1902. In 1898 two gins were built in Baskin. One was built by Waller and the other by Ed and his brother, Ross. The first frame building was on the Ed Reagan place. He married a second time on June 18, 1903 Seleta Ophelia Brewer who had attended his first wedding at the age of ten. They farmed and acquired more land and several cows and horses. They took on share croppers to help work the farm and Ed worked at logging camps when not working on the farm. He prospered until the depression hit in the early thirties, when he lost his land. He continued to farm and did not go to a hospital until at age 82 he had pneumonia. They found him diabetic and with heart trouble. Ed donated land for a cemetery and let it be known that he and his family were to be buried there. He had interests in politics and welfare and often gave advice when asked. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World and a Mason. He was given a Masonic funeral.
