  • Died about 4 Nov 1790 in Greene County, Georgia

A Patriot of the American Revolution for VIRGINIA. DAR Ancestor # A119683

Disputed Origins

Seen as the son of Col. Robert Wade, I. However, Robert’s 1767 will is specific that that “his” son Edward had no children at the time that the will was written. This eliminates that Edward as Edward of Pittsylvania co, [this profile] who lived on Panther creek and who was married prior to 1750. Edward, son of Robert Wade, married Lettice Martin in 1768.

The following account is summarized from “Edward and Mary Wade of Virginia“ by William Hall Wade, MD. PDF

According to their grandson James Daniel Easley, Mary and Edward's parents are unknown, and the spelling of Mary's surname is in doubt. Easley spelled her name "Clemons," but Mary and Edward's son David and his wife Agnes named a son "Thomas Clements." The Rev. Peyton Lisby Wade, a grandson of Mary and Edward, similarly named a son "Edward Clemens."
