Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. at the Elstad Lutheran Church for Edward Wangen, 90, a resident of the Mulder Health Care Facility at West Salem, Wis., and formerly of Lanesboro, who died Thursday Feb. 1, at a La Crosse hospital. The Rev. G. B. Odegaard officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
He was born June 17, 1888, in Norderhov, Norway, the son of Ola and Ynga Maire (Ellefson) Wangen. He came to the United States in 1910 and settled in the Lanesboro area.
On March 24, 1917, he married Bertha Olson of Lanesboro. They farmed near Lanesboro until retiring.
Survivors are five sons, James and Kenneth, Lanesboro, Palmer, Canton, Peter, Harmony, Merlin, Sparta, Wis.; five daughters, Mrs. Juel (Ella) Olstad, La Crosse, Wis., Mrs. Ellert (Marian) Bothun and Mrs. James (Ruth) Beatty, Rochester, Minn., Mrs. Erly (Orillie) Iverson, Byron, Minn., and Mrs. Marlin (Gladys) Ziemer, St. James, Minn.; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two brothers, Nels Ragnar, Racine, Minn., Olaf in Norway, and two sisters, Mrs. Marius (Laura) Hansen and Inga Wangen, both in Norway.
His wife, one brother and three sisters preceded him in death.
Pallbearers were: Michael Wangen, Mark Wangen, Gary Wangen, David Wangen, Larry Wangen and Gerald Bothun.
