Eleanor de la Spine, Eleanor Spinney, Heiress of Coughton, (Alianore de la Spine) was born ABT 1385 in Coughton, Alcester, Warwickshire, England and died after 1466 in Warwickshire, England. She was the daughter and co-heiress of Sir Guy de la Spine of Coughton, Warwick by the heiress of Wyke.

"Under the tower is a large altar tomb of grey marble to John Throckmorton, who died in 1445, Eleanor his wife, and Thomas his son. It was moved from its former position in the chancel at the last restoration of the church. The sides of the tomb are panelled and the moulded plinth contains a band of quatrefoils. In the slab are the brass figures of a man in armour and a lady with five shields, one of which is missing; the other four have the arms of Throckmorton impaling Azure a fesse or with three pheons thereon."

Research Notes

It is unlikely to impossible that Eleanor de la Spine, heiress of Coughton was also the wife of John Bellers. According to History of Parliament, Bellers was last known to be living in 1414 and deceased by 1421, at which time his son John was a ward of John Mowbray and Bellers' wife had remarried to Thomas Seagrave. In comparison, Eleanor is mentioned as her husband John Throckmorton's wife and chief executor in his will in 1445, and according to History of Parliament they married circa 1409. This timeline means that Eleanor could not have been married to both John Throckmorton and John Bellers, and while there is clear evidence that she was certainly married to Throckmorton, there is none currently that links her to Bellers. Eleanor's profile has been disconnected from Bellers' based on this conclusion, and a reliable source should be provided before the two are connected again in the future.
