Notes for ELI ARLEDGE: He got one slave girl (Fillis, 13) and mare (Dolly) and $400 with interest from Ann. According to Clay, Ely moved first to Chester County, SC, and then to Jackson County, Alabama. There is an Eli in Chester County in 1820, who would be in the 26-45 age range, with another male in the 18-26 range and two younger sons and a young daughter. Who is the other male??

However, I believe that this Eli returned to Fairfield Co, SC. because of the land sale action below.

The Ely ALDRAGE listed in 1840 Fairfield Co, SC census is too young to be this Eli, and is probably his son. He is living near Joseph Arledge, who was married to his cousin, Eli's daughter Anne. Eli may have died by the 1840 census. Or he might be the ELY ARLEDGE listed in Jackson Co, AL (NE Alabama, not far from Limestone County) with one male aged 40-50, one female aged 40-50, two females 15-20, two females 10-15, and one female aged 5-10.

1843 Will in Fairfield County SC? Really need to sort out these different Eli/Ely Arledges!
